The Southern Modified Race Tour’s KOMA Unwind Modified Madness Series heads to Jacksonville. NC, home to Camp Lejeune, for the running of the “Semper Fi 125” on Sunday afternoon, May 25th. The event marks a return to the uniquely shaped 4/10 mile asphalt track for the Modifieds. The event marks race number two in the inaugural season for the series after a successful opener at Hickory Motor Speedway on March 22nd.

The Coastal Plains Raceway Park event will feature a tribute to the United States Marine Corps based at Camp Lejeune and will see the “Semper Fi 125” as the feature event along with the “Purple Heart Homes 50” for the Legends cars and 50 lapper for the Mini Stocks.

Many of the top Modified drivers in the south as well as other teams from the northeast are expected to be on hand for this race. Tim Brown, the winner of the inaugural event for the series in Hickory, NC and nine-time Modified Champion at Bowman Gray Stadium (the Madhouse), is expected to head the entry list. The “Purple Heart Homes 50” is a national qualifier for the INEX Legends. A non-points Mini-Stock Mayhem type event will wrap up the days racing.

Special food vendors will provide a carnival atmosphere on the “midway”. In addition the day will wrap up with fireworks set to a musical tribute for the Marines and the USA.

Grandstand open at 1:00 PM and practice gets under way at 1:30 PM. Qualifying is set for 4:00 PM followed by a big autograph session at 4:45. Racing starts at 6:00 sharp following pre-race ceremonies featuring Marines and local dignitaries. Admission for active duty Military is FREE. Dependants are only $10.00 and general admission is only $15.00 for a full day of fun and excitement. Kids 12 and under are free.
