George Brunnhoelzl III, the Four-Time NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour Champion will partner with Sellers Racing, Inc to attend the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown to be held at South Boston Speedway on Thursday, April 24th.
Although Brunnhoelzl currently races full time in the NASCAR Southern Modified tour, Brunnhoelzl is not a stranger when it comes to racing with fenders. GB3 as he is called, competed in the Hooters Pro-Cup Series and most recently the PASS series in a super late model. This will be Brunnhoelzl’s first time getting behind the wheel of a late model stock however he is excited about the opportunity he has with Sellers Racing. “I am very excited to work with a well-established team like Sellers Racing. They bring the best of equipment and pair it with knowledgeable team members. I know with our partnership we will have a competitive car”.
The Sellers Racing teams are well known in Late Model Racing and South Boston Speedway having won multiple races at the track. Of the partnership, Peyton Sellers said “This is a pretty neat partnership. In addition to George, we have a good group of drivers lined up, with Hermie Sadler, Jeb Burton, and Matt Bowling. George is very talented behind the wheel of a modified [car] and that talent will transfer over nicely to a late model. We are looking forward to the event.”
The Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown is a fundraiser for the Denny Hamlin Foundation which mainly focuses on Cystic Fibrosis. Brunnhoelzl, a supporter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, is excited to be involved in a race that is for a great cause. He hopes this race will bring more attention to the efforts that are being made toward the cure of Cystic Fibrosis.
“This event is for such a great cause and I am looking forward to helping bring more attention to the needs of those dealing with Cystic Fibrosis. As a long-time supporter of the MDA, I appreciate the efforts Denny is making with his foundation,” stated Brunnhoelzl. He went on to add, “I want to thank Bill Higbie of Composite Technologies for always being behind and supporting me, which has helped me get to the point where I can compete in a race like this. Also, Brandon Earnest of JRI Shocks for helping me with this opportunity.”
This event is one that is exciting to both the fans and the participants, and the addition of GB3, is a benefit to both the field and the fans.
