A number of big events including the tour’s first dirt track event at Legion Speedway (NH) and a trip to New Hampshire Motor’s Speedway’s “Magic Mile” highlight an exciting schedule for the four-cylinder tour.
In addition to the big events that the series will hold in 2014, teams will also be able to compete in two different Triple Crown series.
The first of these two series, the Northern Triple Crown, will consist of events at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s 1.6-mile road course, Star Speedway (NH) and Devil’s Bowl Speedway (VT). NEMST’s trip to Devil’s Bowl Speedway in 2014 will be the first trip to the West Haven, Vermont oval for the tour.
The second of the Triple Crown series, the Connecticut Triple Crown, will feature events at all three of Connecticut’s oval tracks.

Travis Stearns to Chase ACT Championship; Will Compete in Select PASS Events
2013 Labor Day Classic 200 winner Travis Stearns will return to the Richard Green Racing No. 16ME in 2014 to make a run at the American-Canadian Tour championship. Stearns will once again be working with crew chief Mickey Green out of the Crazy Horse Racing stable.
“Hopefully we’re going to take that next step,” Stearns said about his goals for the 2014 racing season. “I’d like to think we’re capable of contending for a championship. I don’t see why not, honestly. That’s the goal.”
In addition to running full-time on the American-Canadian Tour, the Auburn, Maine driver will also compete in select Pro All Stars Series events, including the Oxford 250, with a new Super Late Model that is currently in the process of being built.
“Run it as much as we can, I guess,” Stearns said when asked about his plans for his team's Super Late Model program. “I definitely want to hit any PASS race I can that I can make at Oxford (Plains Speedway) or Beech Ridge (Motor Speedway) to start with. We’re going to run the 250, too.”
Justin Bonsignore to Drive Famed Art Barry No. 21 Full-Time on Valenti Modified Racing Series
NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour competitor Justin Bonsignore of West Islip, New York will compete full-time with the Valenti Modified Racing Series in 2014. Bonsignore, who has two previous VMRS starts, will join forces with Art Barry and will drive the famed #21 machine previously driven to the 2012 series championship by Jon McKennedy.
Bonsignore will look to challenge fellow NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver Rowan Pennink for the 2014 Valenti Modified Racing Series championship. VMRS will kick-off their 2014 season on March 29-30 at Waterford Speedbowl in Waterford, Connecticut.
Stefanik Expected to be Absent from NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour in 2014
Shawn Courchesne of RaceDayCT.com reports that seven-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Mike Stefanik is not expected to compete during the 2014 season. Although Stefanik isn’t ready to call himself retired just yet, he told Courchesne that it is quite possible that he never sits in a racecar again.
“It’s hard to quit cold turkey, I’ll admit,” Stefanik told RaceDayCT.com. “I’ll admit. It is really tough to say ‘Wow, I’m never going to drive a racecar again.' But it could be very possible that I might never sit in a racecar again. Or, I might run a show here or there for somebody if everything was there to be able to win a race.”
The 74-time NWMT winner will be replaced by one of the biggest young names in modified racing, Tommy Barrett Jr., in the Chris Our-owned No. 22.
ACT Serie Quebec Announces Management Change
The U.S.-based American Canadian Tour (ACT) has announced a management change for its Candian Late Model stock car series beginning in 2014. Racing Promotion Management, Ltd. (RPM), a Quebec-based company led by long-time racing enthusiast and promoter Sylvain Brouillette and his partner Jean-Francois Fredette, will take over day-to-day promotion, marketing, and event responsibilities for the 2014 season.
“We have been anxious to get some established help from Quebec officials for some time now. I have known Svlyain Brouillette for many years,” said the President of ACT, Tom Curley. “He has been a strong advocate of ACT Racing, and the ACT US team looks forward to having the RPM team join us in assuring all the fans and teams in Quebec that ACT racing will continue to set a standard of excellence for the fans and teams of Quebec.”
A 10-race schedule, including the NASCAR-sanctioned Auodrome Ste-Eustache, the 5/8th mile oval outside of Quebec City, Circuit Riverside Speedway, and the third mile and quarter mile ovals in the eastern part of Quebec, Autodrome Montmagny, and Autodrome Chaudiere, will all host the ACT Serie in 2014.
