Auburndale Speedway in Winter Haven, Florida has announced that Ricky Brooks will be serving as their Race/Tech Director for their five remaining Super Late Model events this season.
Rex Guy, General Manager of the quarter-mile asphalt oval, announced in a press release that the hiring of Brooks would help take their Super Late Model racing to the next level.
“The management of the speedway are excited to welcome Ricky Brooks to their facility to further help Florida short track racing in its ability to promote some of the biggest and best Late Model races in the near future,” Guy said in their press release.
Brooks’ duties will not only include being the Super Late Model Tech Director, but also the Race Director as well for the division.
Ricky Brooks told 51 that his duties would not conflict his other responsibilities with the Southern Super Series or other tracks he maintains similar roles with.
“They only have five more Super Late Model events this season, and those dates don’t conflict with any Southern Super Series or other events that I am committed to do,” Brooks said. “After their fiasco at their last race, they called and asked if I could come in and help.”
The last event at Auburndale was the final event for the Florida United Promoter Series where many said there were questionable calls throughout the event.
Brooks has been a tech inspector since 2005 and is widely known for his abilities as the famous Snowball Derby Tech Director. For the past five years, he has been the Tech Director at the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway.
“I have already received a lot of calls from drivers asking me about Auburndale’s next event,” Brooks said. “I have only been to the track once, and it is a fun track to race at. I think fans will see some good Super Late Model racing.”
The first event that Brooks will be serving in his new role will be on Saturday, June 21st.
