Harrison Burton to Double-Dip in Alabama
Thirteen-year-old Harrison Burton has entered both the Pro Late Model Grasshopper/JR’s Lawnmower Shop Rattler 125 and Southern Super Series Hardee’s Rattler 250 at South Alabama Speedway (AL). The event will take place March 14-16 with the “Baby Rattler” on Saturday, March 15 followed by the 250-lap Southern Super Series main event on Sunday afternoon, March 16. The North Carolina native has only two previous Super Late Model starts, but recently won a pair of Pro Late Model races at the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at Florida's New Smyrna Speedway.
GMP Answers Drivers by Adding Sportsman to Season-Opener Lineup
Jefferson, Georgia’s Gresham Motorsports Park has added the Sportsman division to their “Stockerama” events in addition to the previously-scheduled regular card of racing including the Outlaw Late Models, Pro Trucks, Mini Stocks, Renegade Street Stocks and Front Wheel Drive divisions. The schedule addition comes after Sportsman division drivers lobbied the track to be included in the event after it was announced just a few weeks ago. “Stockerama” will kick off the 2014 GMP season on Saturday, April 5.
FL United Promoters Series Finally Taking 2014 Green Flag this Weekend
Most Florida-based racing series’ kicked off their 2014 seasons during the barrage of Speedweeks action in February, if not before. But not the Florida United Promoters Series, they will kick off their fourth season this weekend at Auburndale Speedway (FL) with the Speed 51 100. Former series champions and competitors Daniel Webster, David Green, Daniel Keene, Jr. and Steve Dorer are all expected to attend. There will be open practice on Friday, March 7 and the Speed 51 100 will follow on Saturday night, March 8.
Open Test Days for All Divisions at Five Flags and Mobile on the Calendar
Sister tracks Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida and Mobile International Speedway in Irvington, Alabama will both host open test days for all divisions on Saturday, March 8. Five Flags Speedway will practice from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm CT while Mobile International Speedway will practice under the lights from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. MIS will host three more open practice sessions on Tuesday, March 18 and Thursday March 27 as well as an ARCA-only session on March 15.
Local and Late Model Flavor Strong in ARCA Mobile 200 Entries
As the entry list grows for the ARCA Mobile 200 at Mobile International Speedway the list of familiar names continues to grow as well. Prominent Late Model racers Anderson Bowen of Suwanee, Georgia and Michael Lira of Port Orange, Florida are both on the official entry list. Local drivers Thomas Praytor of Mobile and former winner Grant Enfinger of Fairhope, Alabama are also expected. Both Praytor and Enfinger competed in the series’ Lucas Oil 200 at Daytona International Speedway (FL) with Enfinger ending the event in victory lane. Former NASCAR Nationwide Series winner Bobby Hamilton, Jr. also recently announced he would enter the event with Carter 2 Motorsports in their No. 40 entry and 2013 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour champion Cody Coughlin will make his ARCA debut at Mobile, as well.
Central Texas Speedway to Kick Off Nine-Race Schedule on March 29
Derek Scott Auto Park’s Night at the Races will launch the 2014 Central Texas Speedway 2014 schedule later this month on March 29. The nine-race schedule at the Kyle, Texas 3/8-mile oval will include NASCAR Late Models, Limited Modifieds, Bandoleros, Sport Modifieds, Pro Late Models, Grand Stocks, Super Stocks and Pro Trucks among others.

The Texas Asphalt Limited Modified Series has announced a 10-race schedule that will run on all active asphalt short tracks in Texas including Central Texas Speedway in Kyle, CC Speedway in Corpus Christi and Houston Motorsports Park in Houston.
